Brief
Create the front and back cover and and internal typographic design for a paperback murder mystery novel Silent Pines by a newcomer author Eli Banks.
Design Concept
The book cover design includes a dark and eerie picture of a pine forest at dusk with the words SILENT PINES in multiple lines hidden between the trees. One letter in each line is glowing — the highlighted letters spell the word “LISTEN” — to suggest that a secret is hidden between the pines — it references the tagline “Silence is deadly...”. The book title letters have an eerie glow effect to set the murder mystery mood.
In the internal page design a slowly fading ECG line is used below the chapter title and next to the page numbers through the book to suggest a life vs. death theme.
